INDEX For those of you unfortunate enough to have missed my blogging for the first round of the regular P90X workouts, you can go here. I've started to become a fan of setting up an index. Since I don't know all the fancy database stuff to build a dynamic index, I just build a fixed one. It saves me and you from having to read through every entry to find something specific. Here you go!:

DAY 23 - P90X PLUS So I'm continuing my report of the calories burned each workout. For P90X Plus, the workouts are shorter, by a full 20 minutes in some cases. So the lower numbers reflect the shorter workouts. I've included my original P90X numbers for comparison. I'll update this table as I get more readings.

P90X PLUS DAY 28 - REST This week is a natural time to compare the two workouts because you go back to the Original series from the Plus workouts. So here goes my rant... One thing that annoys me is the change-up in the style of the Plus...without any explanation. They move to lighter weights and longer sets. Why? I don't know. They don't say in any of the pamphlets that came with the program. For the 90 days of the Original, Tony tells you to stick with 8-10 reps to gain mass, and 12-15 to get lean. Well, I'm doing like 20-40 reps in the Plus. Where does that put me?! I wish they would have given the reasoning behind the new workouts. After doing Back & Biceps this week, my back and biceps were sooo pumped and I was sore for 2 days. I MISS THAT! I don't feel pumped up after the Plus. And it seems like the Plus workouts have been edited to shorten the workout. You hear Tony asking how many reps they've done, and there is absolutely NO WAY they could do that many reps in that amount of time. Anyways, this means I end up feeling like I'm constantly behind and trying to catch up--or that I need to push pause just to change weights. This isn't a race for god's sake--I'm not using the weight workouts for cardio. Ugh...it pisses me off thinking about it. Sometimes I want to tell Tony to shut the f*** up and hold on a second while I change weights. It's a good thing for him that he can't hear me. I also feel that my legs are not getting worked out. The Legs and Back day this week really highlighted that key weakness of the Plus. I don't want my legs to get weaker over the course of the Plus--which is why I've decided to switch it in instead of the second U.P. workout during the week. So, so far, I feel that the Plus program is inferior to the Original. Maybe inferior isn't the best word--but it seems like it was quickly put together with less thought. They never explained the reasoning behind the new workout format--less weight, more reps, shorter workouts. It almost seems like a cardio program with weights which wasn't the premise of the Original which has cardio days and weight days, and never the twain shall meet. There's no nutrition program in the Plus, or even reference to nutrition--at least they could have said something like "eat like you did in Phase 3". And the Plus schedule sucks--why would they put U.P. twice a week?! And it just repeats over and over and over again for 90 days...boring. They could have mixed it up more with the Original series to keep things interesting. I've seen a lot of bloggers changing the schedule provided in the Plus--and now I think that's a smart idea. I'll need to come up with my own schedule. Don't get me wrong. The individual workouts in the Plus are great and a welcome addition. What has really irked me is that they market it as another 90 day program--and there's no way these 4 dvds have the legs to cover 90 days on their own! I feel like I've taken a step in the wrong direction for the past 30 days and I feel a bit cheated. ________________________________________________ |

P90X PLUS DAY 29 - END OF THIS BLOG So I came up with a new schedule for a new and improved P90X Plus. I will just keep repeating this one month schedule until I turn 65. Then I'll stop. I'm also ending this P90X Blog. It was fun when I was just getting started, but it's time to move on. Good luck everyone with your workouts! Keep bringin it!
